Who’s heard someone say something along the lines of “he’s a ball player.”? In my opinion, that’s some of the highest praise to be given about a baseball player. Being a “ballplayer” isn’t being good short stop, catcher, pitcher, hitter, etc. Sure, all those things go into being a good ballplayer, but to describe someone as a “ballplayer” is more than that. Whether he’s at Short, behind the plate, or manning the outfield; he’s going to compete until the last out with the same relentless energy, effort, and attitude. A ballplayer might have a preferred position in the field, but they dont confine themselves to that. They may prefer batting leadoff or cleanup, but if they’re in the eight hole they’ll step into the box just the same. Being a ballplayer is more than just the talent you bring to the field. Being a ballplayer doesn’t just describe how good you are at the game, but how you choose to play the game. Be a ballplayer.

“You owe it to yourself to be the best you can be. Be the hardest working person you know.”
